The Sons of Norway Foundation awards scholarships to promising students each year and promotes cultural exchange and support education to help students prepare the next generation of workers.

The Wisconsin Title 1 Association is now accepting applications for our 2026 statewide scholarship-open to seniors who have received Title 1 services at any point during grades K-12. This includes students who were served in elementary or middle school, even if their current high school is not Title 1.

SCHOLARSHIP AT A GLANCE

• Eligibility: Wisconsin graduating seniors entering post-secondary education who have participated in Title I at any point during grades K–12.
• Award Amount: Up to four $1,500 scholarships

At Kohler Credit Union, we’re committed to supporting our members at every stage of life, including their journey toward higher education. We know that financial barriers can stand in the way of dreams, which is why we’re granting up to five $10,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. These scholarships are awarded in annual installments of $2,500 for up to four years, helping to ease the financial burden along the path to success. 

The Manitowoc County Deputy Sheriffs and Constables Association is sponsoring a $500 college scholarship. The Edward J. Shimanek Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing an education in a criminal justice or police science related field and entering their first year of college. Scholarship applicants must be residents of Manitowoc County. Applications must be returned by the February 27, 2026 deadline to the address listed on the last page of the application form.

Applications are available in the Student Services office.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department Association is sponsoring two scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships must be Manitowoc County residents. The two $500 scholarships will be awarded with preference given to students pursuing a career in a criminal justice related field. Application deadline is February 27, 2026. Upon return of our scholarship application, please do not put it into the same envelope as the Edward J. Shimanek Memorial Scholarship.

Background:
Majel Pinney-Henrickson passed away on August 12, 2013, at the age of 57, after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer. Following her graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1973, she attended U.W. Stevens Point and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education K-12 certification. She began her 23-year music teaching career in the Sturgeon Bay School District before moving to teach vocal music at Wilson Junior High School in Manitowoc. She was loved and well respected by her students, who fondly referred to her as “Mrs. H,” or sometimes “Princess H.”

From a very young age, Majel was always “the teacher” and “in charge.” Those wonderful talents helped thousands of students during her career, and she loved teaching and sharing the gift of music with them. Majel was always a positive influence on other people’s lives. In her words, “someone always has it tougher than I do.” She was a blessing and inspiration to many people. She lived life to its fullest and shared her passion with many. Besides being an inspiring teacher and gifted musician, Majel was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She took all those responsibilities very seriously and genuinely nurtured each and every one of those relationships. When Majel came into your life, she made you feel special and blessed.

Majel enjoyed nature, puttering in her yard, taking pictures and her daily walks enjoying the different seasons of the year and God’s creation of our world. She found peace during her walks as she talked to God. Through this scholarship, Majel shares her wonderful life and talents by helping students pursue their musical dreams.

Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients)

• Graduating seniors from the following schools:
  • Kiel High School

• Planning to major in music at an accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time student
• Involvement in musical activities with a preference to choir

Award Amount:
One $4,000 renewable scholarship for tuition, payable $1,000 annually during the fall semesters of college

Selection:
Recipients are recommended each spring by the Music Scholarship Selection Committee within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:
Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc.

After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:
Failure to maintain full-time student status in good standing, majoring in music.

Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Application – DUE DATE: March 1  

This application supports the following scholarships on one online application.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 731, is offering up to two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are residents of Manitowoc, County. This award is to be used for continuing Education at any degree granting accredited school. (educational / technical collage / university)

Specific Scholarship Requirements

1. Applicants must be, a resident of Manitowoc County, a high school senior, & have a cumulative grade point average of 2.2 or higher for their high school years, grades 9 through date of application.
2. The scholarship is for a full time program at any accredited degree granting Institution of higher learning.
3. Applicants must interview any U.S. military veteran(s) who served “honorably while on active duty” between 1 January 1959 to 7 May 1975. This service can be served anywhere in the world, it’s not restricted to the war itself.
4. Write an essay (original, typed, double-spaced) of not less than 500 or more than 1000 words based on the interview(s).
5. Supply proof of the interviewed veteran’s service. DD 214, or Honorable Discharge, or Veteran I.D. Card (If the person you are interviewing is a member of VVA chapter 731, we’ll have a copy of his/her DD 214 on file. In this case, you do not have to send a copy of form DD214 or other proof of service. [Service Numbers can be blacked out.]
6. Mail the essay, application, school transcripts, and  proof of veteran’s service to V.V.A. Chapter 731, Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 2131, Manitowoc, Wi. 54221-2131 by March 2. {{Postmarks “later” than March 2 “will not” be considered}}.
7. Note: Although elements of grammar may be considered, it’s what you learned from the interview & how it’s expressed on the essay that will have the most importance to most doing the judging.

The Pursuit of Serving Scholarship aims to recognize students who will pursue careers in Public Safety services including Criminal Justice, Police Science, Pre-Law, EMT, Paramedic, and/or Fire Protection.

The Pursuit of Serving Scholarship awards a one-time scholarship of up to $1,000 to one Valders High School graduate each year at the discretion of the selection committee.

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants will be pursuing a career in Public Safety services including Criminal Justice, Police Science, Pre-Law, EMT, Paramedic, and/or Fire Protection. Applicants will also be graduates of Valders High School who will enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college. They will also have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater, employment history, and 40 hours or more of community service.

Selection Criteria

• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater
• Applicant must have employment history
• Applicant must have completed 40 hours or more of community service
• Applicant must be a future graduate of Valders High School
• Applicant must enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college
• Applicants must be pursuing a career in Public Safety services including Criminal Justice, Police Science, Pre-Law, EMT, Paramedic, and/or Fire Protection.

Students will primarily be evaluated on the quality and content of their essay. They will also be evaluated on the quality of their responses in other areas of this application. Purpose The Gregg & Charlene Peterson Scholarship in memory of Jennifer Peterson awards a one-time $750 scholarship.

Who Is Eligible to Apply? Applicants shall be graduates of Valders High School, who will enroll next fall in a trade school, two year college, or four year college with an emphasis in Business, Insurance, Political Science, or a special trade.

Selection Criteria Students will be evaluated on their ability to clearly articulate goals in each of four areas: educational goals, career goals, community service goals, and personal life goals.

• Applicant must be a future graduate of Valders High School
  AND
• Plan to attend an Accredited College/Technical College
  OR
• Trade School

Each applicant is required to submit two letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation will be evaluated on how well they describe the student's improvements, contributions, and successes. Letters may be from a current or previous year’s staff member, teacher, counselor, principal, coach, or employer.

Submission Deadline Students must submit their completed applications, including letters of recommendation, no later than Friday, March 20, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Applications submitted by the deadline without the two required letters of recommendation are incomplete and will not be considered.

Distribution The recipient of the scholarship will be notified at the Senior Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 pm. By accepting the scholarship payment, the student agrees to use the financial award exclusively for tuition, fees, books and room and board while enrolled at a post-secondary institution. To claim this financial award, a post-secondary transcript showing full-time first-semester grades and a full-time second-semester schedule need to be provided to the Student Services office no later than February 12, 2027. An ACH form with current banking information must also be submitted to receive payment. The funds will be direct deposited as early as March or as late as April following School Board approval. The scholarship MUST be claimed no later than February 12, 2027 or the financial award is FORFEITED.

Purpose 

Ron Sickinger was a local community member known for his kindness and varied hobbies. The Ron Sickinger Memorial scholarship reflects Ron’s lifelong passions. Ron was a state high school wrestling champion and avid supporter of the VHS wrestling program. Ron also had a love for animals. This love was obvious in his successful raising of champion field trial beagles. He also owned and operated a livestock genetics counseling business. Ron was known to help local farmer friends whenever he could.

The Ron Sickinger Memorial Scholarship Fund's goal is to perpetuate Ron’s legacy by awarding a one-time $1000 scholarship to one Valders High School graduate each year who share in Ron’s interests (at the discretion of the selection committee). 

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants must be graduates of Valders High School who will enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college. They must also be a Valders High School wrestler OR a Valders High School FFA member OR plan to study a field related to Animal or Agricultural Science.

Selection Criteria

• Applicant must be a Valders High School wrestler OR

• Applicant must be a Valders High School FFA member OR

• Applicant must plan to study a field related to Animal or Agricultural Science

AND

• Applicant must enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants shall be graduates of Valders High School who will enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college. Applicants must also have attended Valders Middle School for grades 5-8 and have completed 40 hours of community service. Preference will be given to applicants who have also participated in Band and/or Choir and/or been involved with drama performances.

Selection Criteria

• Applicant must have attended Valders Middle School for grades 5-8

• Applicant must have completed 40 hours of community service

• Preference will be given to those who have participated in Band and/or Choir

• Preference will be given to those who have been involved with drama performances through acting, stage, pit, sound, tech, set, costume, make up, etc.

• Applicant must be a future graduate of Valders High School

• Applicant must enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college

Students will primarily be evaluated on the quality and content of their essay. They will also be evaluated on the quality of their responses in other areas of this application. They may also be evaluated on the quality of the information on their transcript, or community service form.

Purpose 

The Herb Krueger Scholarship awards a $1,000 scholarship renewable for up to four years to one or more Valders High School graduates each year at the discretion of the selection committee. Selected students may reapply for up to four years by submitting a separate renewal application as long as they maintain at least a “C” (2.0 GPA) average.

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants shall be graduates of Valders High School who are not in the top 10% of their class and will enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college. Special consideration will be given to economically disadvantaged students based on the parents’ income and the income eligibility guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction school nutrition programs. Preference will be given if at all possible to students who are pursuing a career in the lumber and/or forestry industries.

Selection Criteria

• Applicant must be a future graduate of Valders High School

• Applicant must not be in the top 10% of their class

• Applicant must enroll next fall in a trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college

• Special consideration will be given to economically disadvantaged students

• Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in lumber and/or forestry

Purpose 

Members of the Valders High School Class of 1945 voted at their 45th Class Reunion to establish a scholarship fund. The spirit of the class was shown when 88% of the 50 living class members contributed to the fund through personal donations and memorials. In 1995, the first annual scholarship was awarded. Volunteers from the Class served on the Selection Committees from 1995-2003. Dedicated members of the Class of 1945 worked many hours each year to accumulate the funds. The Class of 1945 reached its goal of leaving a “Living Memorial to the Valders High School”, an endowment providing scholarship grants for many years.

The Class of 1945 Scholarship awards a one-time $2,000 scholarship to one Valders High School graduate each year at the discretion of the selection committee.

Who Is Eligible to Apply? 

Applicants shall be graduates of Valders High School, who have a class rank of 3rd to 15th, and who will enroll next fall in a 4-year college.

Selection Criteria

• Applicant must be a future graduate of Valders High School

• Applicant must have a class rank ranging from 3rd to 15th as determined by the official VHS ranking for their first semester of senior year

• Applicant must enroll next fall in a 4-year college

Students will primarily be evaluated on the quality and content of their essay. They will also be evaluated on the quality of their responses in other areas of this application. They may also be evaluated on the quality of the information on their transcript, or community service form.
