Hi,

    In sixth grade we engage our students in process oriented math where a variety of methods are used to arrive at the right answer.  We use a spiral curriculum ensuring that students use the concepts frequently over time to help deepen understanding.  Listed along the side of this page you will find some of the specific elements of our math program.

 


                         My Mission Statement                 

            It is my mission to provide all children the groundwork to become successful adults.  Through positive actions and feelings I will promote self-assurance.  The children will feel important and worthy.  I will see that each child can truly feel comfortable expressing ideas and opinions.  This self-assurance will enhance their learning capabilities because they will no longer feel embarrassed or unsure of themselves.  When the students leave my class, they will take with them these skills to integrate into their lives outside of school.  With this ability the students will walk a positive path through life.

    I will work with students so they can strive daily to reach their full potential.  Through activities that enhance all degrees of learning, each student can use a tool that best suites their needs.  These needs will be met through discussion, hands-on interaction, and visual presentations.  The students’ own creative and individual needs will help to develop their own skills.

         Individual attention will be met by individual conferences, discussions and social interaction.  The students’ feelings of acceptance and value will be met on a variety of levels.  Through positive interactions my classroom will be a place that all children can stand out in their own unique way.  Only through positive environments and interactions can we truly unleash the inner capabilities of each precious child.
